Ok well i have a shitty dell inspiron 5150 with 512mb ram, i was just wondering if i could run this program and still play cs:s.  Usually i have to shut of some programs and virus protection stuff in order to run cs.

can you guys tell me if i should be ok to run ventrillo and play or should i not even bother. thanks

Everyone has to shut down virus scanners before they play CS:S. Ventrilo should be fine.

It may be the codec used for our ventrilo server. You aren't running a firewall are you? Router?

I do have a firewall and linksy's wireless router, but when i did run ventrillo and cs:s, the task manager said i was using more than 650mb of ram and i only have a 512mb of ram. I wasn't getting a response from from the ventrillo cs server so i had to go into the office server and it was laggy there. 

I'm planning on getting a 1gig of ram so it could fix this problem.

Firewalls are bad when playing games, just like AVs. But with 512 MB and running XP...well that's pretty much the minimum standard (though they say you "can" run it with less).
