The tabletop was awesome. Obviously, it has a huge following. It isn't some fag pen and paper RPG either. Its like an RTS without a computer. I used to play it a little as a young kid over at a buddy's house. My parents wouldn't buy me the stuff and I was too young to work back then, but I really enjoyed playing it when I did. I suppose you could say that it was my first RTS exposure.

From what I've heard in the pipe, WarHammer Online is supposed to top AoC and WoW. However, that has yet to be seen. Also, early Beta reports have been that its WoW, but the PVP is better and after 6 months to a year, the systems being made should distinguish it from WoW in a good way.

But who knows? The RTS' are very, very good. I beta'd the first and was hooked, but back then I didn't have time to play it enough and I never bought the expansions. Unfortunately, I still don't have much time until after school.

I'll be getting into this game, one of the guys at work got the collector's edition and i played for about 4 hours it's really good. Hopefully by the realease date some of the mechanics will bit fixed.  all around though, they learned their lesson from their past game and fixed it big time in WAR.

I'm not sure if other MMOs are actually killing other ones off. I think over time they kill themselves. I used to play EverQuest for like 6 years, saw most of the xpansions come out and eventually when they released EQ2 it took away some of the players from EQ, then shortly after WoW came out and I think people got tired of EQ and moved on. Since then EQ has put out like 13 or 14 expansions and WoW seems to grow each day. Though with a lot of hype and discussion, mostly bitching, about this new expansion, WoTLK, many people might leave WoW cause it won't really even the playing field it just shits on other classes.

As for AoC, I've heard it was supossed to be this badass game, but the graphics and all the bugs really screwed up the game. I personally haven't played it and I can't say much more than I've heard from everyone else.

But for WAR, I'm curious how that game will actually turn out. If it'll reach it's hype and exceed it or just flop eventually when there's a drastic change to a class. I mean face it, when they put out new MMOs they don't expect people to be intelligent and take complete advantage of a class and  be a powerhouse.

Who knows, we'll have to see if WAR will possibly kill WoW or even AoC.

Ive been beta testing the game for a VERY long time now,  i'm an  elder beta tester from closed beta,  and i will tell you this now.

WAR     WILL,   kill  WoW.  Its not going to be immediate.  but there are a few things that definitely blow the shit outa wow.

For example  the  world pvp,  there is pvp in every single zone in the game (little  "lakes" if you will)  where if you enter,  you will be killed most likely.  this game is built around pvp,  and it does an extremely good job at it.  At one given time or another  depending on how everything is going,  if you make it to the battle cities where each faction is trying to win over the town,  you will have massive battles of 100 on 100  or more  and its just massive waves of people rushing at you.    And there is no running through people bullshit.   if both people are flagged for RvR (pvp) then they cannot go through each other. So basically,  if you need to stop the enemy from advancing,  you can quite literally form a wall of people and force your enemy to fight through you if they wanna get to the other side.

Another aspect is the public quest system.  honestly i absolutely love this,  there are sometimes multiple public quests per zone, and as many people who want to participate are able to. Its basically mini raids with random people. and in the completion of the quest, the participation and contribution amount are calculated and you have a chance to win a loot bag,  which ive won some that contain epic quality items.

Then overall, their scenarios (battle grounds) are amazing also,  very well thought out and very fun.  there are many different types,  so youll just have to play to see them all.


Overall,  this game is either going to kill WoW,  or it will atleast take a large chunk of people out of its population

That's exactly the way I see it. The game is mainly more for RvR (pvp) with a dash of PvE. You can level just as easy in battle then you can in RvR, and you can start RvR at level 2 easily (they give you the level boost) without ruining the game. All in all it's more of how you play games. Some people like WoW because of the deep content that they have against the computer, many like the PvP part of it....however, i think at the start most of the PvP people are going to swap into some RvR for a while, and even the PvE are going to swap over to taste the awesome story of WAR.

So far I'm impressed with what they did with this, and the hype that has came out for it so far, the game is able to cover it. I almost came to the point that we should throw a Child of War thread up

We can put up a War board of course, but I would like to say that I've never enjoyed RvR, even back when I played DAoC (I have the honor of being the first person to teleport to a realm after beta, due to a bug that I reported on day 1). However, I would like to say that it seems like there are arenas and RvR. I've enjoyed the War RTS series, and even the tabletop when I was a kid (around 10). I'm thinking of buying the entire RTS series as a matter of fact.
