he's stated what his resolution is:

so he has all this new tech, and an old (possibly CRT) monitor with a resolution that doesn't begin stress any of the components he has in his system. he's not overclocking anything (lets hope he never does) so it just seems to be a waste really. course, if you have the money, might as well upgrade. hopefully he'll upgrade his monitor soon. 

One really has to wonder why, if he can afford such high end equipment and figure out how to put it together, he doesn't have a semi-decent display or doesn't know how to set his own screen resolution.

Reminds me of all the kids down here who's parents buy them BMW M3's and they go to the track granny shifting instead of double clutching like they should be and then wondering why lightly modded honda civics pass them up.

Also, Plasma is a bad idea for computers because of image burn-in. Not to mention that Plasmas with VGA or DVI inputs are pretty rare. You're best off with LCD.

Agent. He was probably serious about getting a plasma. And really, if he got one with an HDMI input, he could get a DVI-to-HDMI cable and hook it up to his computer. But computers don't usually look as good on TVs as on real monitors; not to mention he would get some really ugly burn-in. So, jokes about his job aside, it was good advice.

I'll apologize for this in advance, and aside from this post, I'll try to refrain from replying to his threads. My attitude is fueled primarily by his ridiculously retarded thread where he started bragging about hardware he didn't have and let his friend make posts under his account as his own and only admitted it after he got called out on the stupidity of those threads. What probably got me the most was not the fact that his ideas were impossibly stupid, but that he was trying to show off something he didn't have. Some people show off their hardware, and some people write reviews on how pleased they are with such and such components. If I remember well, he got nominated for retard of the month for that one, and I'm not going to pity him like some people did just because he sounds innocent or can't speak English properly. He's not a kid, so I'm not going to treat him like one. I'm sure if half of any other OFPR member posted the kind of shit he's posted, they'd get laughed at and ridiculed for a week. Why is he so different just because he's French?

I'll lay off his case when he starts genuinely asking for advice, but I'll tell him the truth when he pops up another bad idea, such as plugging in a Plasma screen or LCD TV to a computer.
