7950 GT Overclocking...
« on: May 17, 2008, 03:09:57 PM »

Does anyone here have and would like to know how to overclock it like a madman?

I just reached a new overclocking level on mine with a new voltmod.

For reference, I'll post some specs. The 7900GTX has the exact same core as the 7950GT, though it was priced $200 more when it was on sale.

Stock 7950GT
Core: 550mhz
Memory: 700mhz

Stock 7900GTX
core: 650
Memory: 800

My 7950GT
Core: 670
Memory: 880

The GPU Heatsink I'm using is this one:

To achieve this, I voltmodded the core to increase voltage from 1.35 to 1.55 volts, and used the pencil shader trick to increase memory voltage. I'm still experimenting with higher memory overclocks.

If anyone wants any details, let me know. I just figured I'd share.

Edit: I changed the numbers a bit. I realized at 1.65V and 710mhz, I was heating up like a bitch, and when I say heating up like a bitch I mean 80-90 degrees C, so I took it down to 670/880 and 1.55V and now it doesn't top 70C. Still way past factory specs.
