Looks like I will be purchasing this one soon. 

-Sandbox MMO (ala SWG pre CU)
-crafting is the best way to get best items (no 1 click WoW players need apply for raiding gear).
-its not an FPS in an MMO setting, its descp suggests it but I hear very differently.
-did I mention its a sandbox MMO?

I played the beta a little, It's has some good things that I've wanted in MMO's but it is quite a grind. I heard though once you get over the learning curve in the first 5 or more levels its a lot of fun, but the source isn't reliable.

Let me know how you like it, if its SWG like etc.

I read some of the what the beta players said in the CO forums and they keep saying that it sounds cool, but once you play through its all about exploring and that's pretty much it. They lowered XP earnings on mobs, so leveling up is a grind, like PWA said. I guess the zones are super-huge though, but it seems unimaginative. I haven't played myself, but I'd give it about a month and let the reviews come out first.

no zones at all craig from what I have also read.  They said this isnt for the "how's the end game" type of players, it is a long grind but as long as you immerse yourself into the story (ie. factions, visiting towns) it doesnt seem like a grind.  I dunno, but it sounds alot better than anything else out on the market, and if it is a little like SWG then I am sure I will stick with it till Old Repub comes out.

I know it wont, but Darkfall was nothing like Darkfall from what I have read/heard.  SW:OR will be nothing like its pred, but the story driven char dev is what I am looking most foward to.  All voice acted quests.  KoToR + MMO = can of awesome.

Well by zones I guess I mean sections. They have different environments, sorta from what I've read. But yeah I'm sure they want story driven immersed players, but so did just about every other MMO, until the community whines and whines. So I don't know. Let us know how it goes.

i never picked it up lol, I am actually playing a game called Allods online.  Its a Russian MMO (F2P + Cash Shop when it is released).  The graphics are similar to WoW but not the same engine, Closed Beta 4 starts today, go get a key from file planet and try it, I am enjoying the hell out of it.

I have only leveled a character to 7 so far.  I got in at the tail end of cb 3.  The grind is hell, I will say that (it was for cb3 anyways), but I am having a blast with a Demonologist right now.  Pally I read is hell to grind till around lvl 15-20 then it gets a little faster.  But overall, it plays like WoW minus no auto attack which I like because you cant sit there and whack a mob without pressing a button, you have to physically hit the button each time.  You will notice a fatigue bar (blue xp bar under the normal xp bar) it gives you extra xp that you turn in at every inn keeper (option to rest turns it in), I normally turn it in every time I pass by one because once it hits its cap you dont earn anymore till turn in.

I havent gotten to try astral ships (they should be in this beta test though), the idea is interesting with the PvP , and some high end raids via traveling to the raids on the astral.  You can be attacked after a successful raid by other people and they can take your loot if you lose a pvp battle in the ship.  I think the game is awesome with the questing/raids of WoW and the PvP (I hear havent tried yet) of WAR minus the 18 bazzilion zones that killed WAR.

Also the community seems to be pretty helpful in game.  I do not believe there is a true tank in this game ala Warrior in WoW.  The warrior class in Allods seems to be DPS heavy and Pally's seem to be the main tanks.

Yeah, I've barely dicked around at this point. Trying a melee Inquisitor for the hell of it. Seems interesting enough.

How's the world PvP work? I haven't really found anything that describes it. Is it like WoW with flagged/non-flagged zones? Can't seem to find a decent answer about it on the forums, but I guess I haven't really looked much outside the archetype forums.

I read up on Allods recently. gpotato always makes interesting MMO's, even if in the end they weren't what you thought they were going to be.

Anyway, I guess Allods is made to be a free WoW Clone. Sounds like they have some unique things, maybe trying to make a WoW, but learning from mistakes? Anyway, hope it turns out way.

it has a 12 million budget, which for a F2P game is astronomical.  As far as PvP goes, I am guessing the normal server will operate like wow with flagged and non flagged zones and maybe a flag you can actually set yourself to pvp when desired (kinda like SWG with the overt flag).  Not really sure.  I am tooling around with a Priest right now (bastards get to wear plate armor later on around lvl 30 - 40), name is Smitetard on him and Thesmiter for my demonologist on the league side.

Its an "F2P", but what I like about it is that its turn-based combat and you recruit your own mercenaries into your party (up to 8 apparently). So its like playing a Final Fantasy Tactics MMO. Its got me interested, but I haven't tried it yet.

same here.  thats why I am just dabbling in it right now, majority of my time still goes to Rumble FIghter.  Its an mmo that doesnt play like an MMO, it plays like Power Stone but solely combo based and no arena weapon pickups but purchasable pickups via in game credits earned or cash bought credits along with fighting styles.

Atlantica Online sucks. The male characters look female, so that was the first red flag. The questing system is basically "go grind this" and the battle system sucks. Basically the battle system isn't an ATB one, but instead you have a total amount of time to make your moves for your entire party. The timer doesn't pause for the fighters fighting and you can't really do them in tandum with another character AND you have to click on the mob itself, not near it, not on its big highlighted spotlight on the ground, but actually on it.

The description said that setting up party member positions are crucial. However, it turns out the only positions you set up are who's in the front and who's in the back row.

The only positive thing I can say is that everything is in real locations (not exact or anything) on an alternate timeline which I thought was cool.

I think that they really had something good on paper and should have spent time refining it during design time and early alpha testing, but it doesn't seem that way. Its a shame really. They even have a cool mentoring system to help you along your way. It is what you expect from a "Free2Play" Korean-style MMO unfortunately.

like I said in the continued post, I love this game.  It is very similar to SWG with a classless character system.  Its unlike it as in once you chose to put ap points into a skill, you can't unlearn those ap points.  Its a huge ass open world, too.
