I'm quitting school. At least that crappy Everest University. Let me tell you about some of my issues.
-I was told it was cheaper, which alright great! It is cheaper per class when compared to University of Phoenix, however, you do 3 times the classes for essentially half the credits. I'll explain in the next point, but you end up paying A LOT more.
-I'm on a "quarterly" schedule apparently. So I do "part time" which means I "only" do 4 classes a semester (2 a quarter). It takes me 190 credits to get my Bachelors it seems.
-They told me they were accredited. They were right. Nationally accredited, but not Regionally accredited, which is what everyone goes by - the regional accreditation boards. I've actually never heard of national accreditation until recently. So my company won't pay anything for it and I doubt my credits are going to transfer.
-I've paid $13,000 in student loans every year for a couple of years.
-They have started slipping in new classes now that I'm almost done with my Associates. You know "Oh I'm sorry, someone must have missed this" sort of thing.
-They charged me $1,700 4 months after switching majors, and telling me that it wouldn't cost anything, since it was still Computer Science.
-I'm still not sure when I'm actually scheduled to get any degree at all.
-Although they send me a 108T every year, because of how much I pay for tuition, I check my Sallie Mae account and gain a little interest on unsubsidized portions of my loan, because although I pay the school, I'm fairly certain they do not pay my loans until the end of the "year" or something similar.
-I have a lot of work. All the time.
So anyway I need to choose a new university. Also never, ever use Everest.
