Well as I was researching the Burning MUD's history (been hosting them for awhile and getting lots of people playing it) I came across this new MUD. And because the mentioned the triforce of Courage (Farore), I figured that he might be interested in it, because he seems like one of those guys. Maybe Yashyn too. I might try it out or something.
Anyway, a MUD isn't graphical. They've been around since the late 70s, but you could also co-op with people...like MMORPGs...even back then. Which is saying a lot. You could do it in real time too. You telnet into a MUD server and you get descriptions of whatever room you are in with objects and such and enter text commands to do stuff. Zork Multiplayer anyone?
They do have telnet clients made specifically for MUDs, so you don't have to type in a lot of stuff. And surprisingly there is still a very, VERY large demand for these games. The BurningMUD game has like 30 or 40 people on during the weekdays playing at the same time and on the weekends, over 100 people.
Well now that what MUDs simplistically are is out of the way I'll tell you a bit about this particular MUD. Its at
ZeldaMUD and has nothing, but a hosted forums section up, but the developement is going strong and I guess they host 175 (give or take 10) accounts right now. They are trying to implement the story line and such as well.
I guess it is supposed to be after all of the current Zelda games have taken place and Zelda and Link are dead I believe. Ganon is coming back. You can choose whether to fight on Ganon's side or on good side.
I think its pretty neat.
