Some time ago in like early 2000 I was introduced to game via UT. I will be honest and say that I wasn't that good but I was also on a 14k connection. Given the lag and everything I eventually got better to say I was ok and really good for being on slow dial up. Then my cousin Dan(suicidal goat) introduced me and my brother(booob) to Rune HoV. We played for a while also with Dan't brother steve, then that summer Dan and I decided it was time to try and start a clan of our own. So we literally sat around my house trying to decide what to call it. We wanted something that would make a good looking tag and at the same time show our seriousness of it all. So we came out of my computer room into my dining room and there was a barrel shaped jug of pretzels on the table. We looked at it and took our clan name right off the tag "Old Fashioned Pretzel Rods" I guess our next decision was what to do with the tag because a lot of the RUNE clans used {} for their tags. We decided to spice it up and use _[OFPR] Eventually in the Rune days the _ just got dropped by most members because we got sick of telling people to use it. I wish I remember the exact founding date for when we started, but at the time I didn't think that we would be what we are, so all I know is July 2000.

We actually started it as a LAN clan and didn't intend on expanding until we decided 4 players just wan't a enough. So we started having tryouts on our 6 man 2v2 OFPR no shields server. We never just picked anybody and let them in. There was always a time frame that it took(used to be a lot shorter though) to make sure we were getting the right players. We weren't aimed at having the best players, just the players with the best attitudes. That is what we prided ourselves on. We did get competative and had matches against some of the HoV greats including {BIWS}, <LT>, and some others. We also got our first site and forums to keep in touch. They were nothing like these ones. I think we also went through our second site in this time period too. www.geocities.com/runeofpr Mattousai also created an OFPR map that was just wicked sick. You would have to play the game to understand but we all had our own weapon rooms with our favorite weapons. Then HoV started to go down hill with scripts and hacks. It was a small community of around 30-50 players MAX online at a time. Just with the exploiters and lack of support from HumanHead we left and moved on to BF1942 with about 15 of our members. There was a global player ranking for Rune and we had many members in the top 12 and I believe we also had #1 and #2 overall. This was over many hundred players.

BattleField1942 showed promise in that it had support and patches from EA and it was just awesome to play. It also brought around changes as Goat resigned from co-leader with me. Thinking I needed another in command I put my brother in his place. He pretty much milked the role and drained me until he disappeared and I just took sole command. BF1942 also brought around our newest and current home, www.ofprclan.com This is also where we started to get into ladders as you can see by our TWL BF1942 matches. Then we also started getting into CoD at the same time and bounced between the two games. Also shown by our TWL records. This is the time period WB was introduced.

The next game up! BF:V. Personally this was my favorite game. Cruising around in choppers while playing loud music. Joking about gook grease and running around with the gook hole. It was just the best times I think I ever had. Durring this time we also got involved in *drumroll* CAL and did fairly well I guess you can say. We almost made the playoffs, but since so many teams forfeitted and we didn't get to play all the games we couldn't make it in the playoffs because the points system didn't offer enough points for forfeit wins. I think we had 3 of them. After BF:V there was a small downtime until the release of..... BF2!!!

Battlefield2 was also some good times. We had a ranked server thanks to horse but I guess weren't dedicated enough to play in it all the time and get regulars. All along shitty was calling us morons leading up some amazing CS:S shit here. Then he started up the server you all now know as Office 24/7. I told him that if he ever got those servers full that I would get the game. Well low and behlod the bastard done it! I never actually bought the game, mid december that year humble martyr also know as Bryan bought it for me for Christmas. Then we played in TWL ladders and did amazing I think putting ourselves at the top of many ladders.  We later got involved in CAL, and a few seasons into it made it to IM.  Part of the way through our IM season CAL got bought out and later shut down.  Not too long after gamservers.com who was hosting all of our 3 wildly popular servers(Office, Dust2, Gungame) went to crap.  The decision was made to switch hosts.  When we switched we didnt really get all of the people we had back.  Things eventually fizzled out and in 2008 we shut them all down.

After CS:S we lost a lot of focus.  We all went in different directions.  A bunch of us played Guild Wars for a couple years while others went off and did their own thing.  Things got really quiet around the forums and at one point I was visiting them about once a week.  Late 2011 brought back activity.  BF3 promised to be the next big thing and many of us pre-ordered it.  The forums were hopping and people were excited.  We ended up renting a VDS from NFO and ran our own BF3 ranked server.  The time some of us put into the game was outrageous.  The dedication was there and the server had a week of being full non-stop.  Untimely patches and horrible support from EA/DICE killed our hopes of a popular server in the long run.  After a few months we gave up and everyone stopped playing BF3.

2012 brought lots of buzz around here of a new CS, the game that basically made us. We kept our VDS from BF3 through the off months after BF3 failed hoping we could get to where we once were.  Many of the old time members came back and we knew this could be it.  Through the beta we ran a server and tested different things with varying success.  Our beta server rolled over upon the release of the game and on release day with the help of many people OFPR Office was once again born, this time for GO.  With great support of our members and community we have been able to make it into what I would call a success.

That is where we stand now, a server that we all hope will be as successful as the original office server, adn the hopes that we will be able to stand up and make other servers with the same popularity.

I guess the thing to say is that we never have time to looked back, even when my health went to hell that summer and I lost my voice for two months. I have always read articles of big gaming magazines interviewing clan leaders of CAL winners and other normal run of the mill clans and always hoped that it would be me some day. But during those years I realized that I don't need that. You can't put something like this into words. You can set up a winning team and be on top of the world within a year, but something like this takes time and dedication, so that is what I have given it. I think our community and reputation is better than being in any online magazine for winning something. Also there aren't many clans that can say they have been around 12 years. And if you do find one that can boast it I would guess they are probably lying because I only know of a handfull.

So you can say that is OFPR in a nutshell.

Also:

I would like to add that none of this would be if people like shitty, kyle, and others didn't put some trust into some 15 yr old kid that was trying to run a clan(which many didnt know because I kept it on the down low until I was 18). Then through the days having the support of Craig to run our servers and the finiancial backing of Horse, Richie, Andrei to allow us to take the next step with our success.  I would keep naming names but everyone who has done something knows what they have done and I do not forget any member or anything anybody has done.  If you guys want to see some of our roots you can check out www.comewalktheedge.com

So it isn't confusing to the new guys. Justin talks about things of "last year" and such that were long ago, like our popular CS:S servers. The original post most of this is from was posted at the end of 2006.

OT... after getting the humble indie bundle, all I've been playing are those indie games while in the library at my school lol.
But back on topic, the forum has been around for seven years? This clan has been active for 12? Jeebus, dedication man... dedication.

Love hearing this history. We should have another thread for member history. How each of us found the clan and came to join and whatnot.

Didnt we have a thread called "everyone gather around the fire place" with a bunch of member stuff in it?

I was recruited by Big Boob and Sadistic Sapp in Rune.  Man I miss killing me any JuNN members, chief rival of any Rune player back in the day.

If we started a thread with a solid format of question and answers we could plug it into ExCel pretty easily and create a quality timeline for members and activity.

Name: (time of app)
Join Date: (mm/yyyy)
Recruited By: (if known)
Info: (how you found OFPR, why join, experiences with clan, did you leave and return, why)
Bio: (if you want, real name, location, schooling/ degree, job, family, anything)

Just an idea. And we could give as much info on non-active members as we know. Give as much info as you want, could be awesome.

That could definitely help this out.

And I don't want to create extra work for people so I'm willing to go through info and posts to get this info into an ExCel sheet. I have a degree in history so this sounds really fun to me.

Just a few minutes from members when they get a chance to put info into the questions.

I see Turan playing Torchlight all the time.
OT... after getting the humble indie bundle, all I've been playing are those indie games while in the library at my school lol.
But back on topic, the forum has been around for seven years? This clan has been active for 12? Jeebus, dedication man... dedication.

The ofprclan.com forums have been around since the winter or spring of 2003, which would be almost 10 years.

I like it, or Craig is there a plugin for a member bio page type deal?
Yeah, believe it or not the forums here are actually a part of a powerful portal where, if enabled people can blog and crap even. I should probably update the portal side. It has been a couple of years I think.

I just checked, this is a lighter portal than I used to use so I'm not sure it actually allows blogs and such but it is something that can probably be implemented, even if it takes changing the system.

Take a look at http://simpleportal.net/index.php?board=55.0

Goddamn way to make me feel old. It is hard to believe it has really been this long(shitty yelled at me hence im posting). I remember playing SoF2 and Turan yelling at me telling me to get "My Anus Cakes" on this website and register. Odd how many strange memories you actually remember from OFPR in the younger years.

For some strange reason it still sticks with me, Justin yelling at me at 2am my time(PST). "Did you Photoshop the fucking buttons for the header of the website yet with the BF2 Pic????"

All the old AIM chat rooms we used to chat in. First time using team speak and hearing the voices of the perverts i played with for years. so many memories i will actually hold onto for the rest of my life. OFPR made me love video games the way i do, like how rage loves children and men.

I've always considered Justin a good friend. I consider all the time we spent online chatting on AIM, X-Fire and in teamspeak and trying to organize, TWL, CAL, CAL-I etc.. etc.. like two friends hanging out.

It's great to see our history finally written. I have spent a lot of great years playing with, for, and representing OFPR. Even in random games i decide to download for goobers, i throw on the [OFPR].

Guess i should pick up Global Offensive huh?

Do you have the photo of Ass in the dress?  We need to dig that up and plaster it all over the place.  That picture and the one with Craig at the special ed party.

Also, I think you have me confused with your neighbor Caligula - I'm not into the little boys.

I can't remember his in-game name but his real name was Jeremy Olsen. He faked his death to join another clan. So we found out who he really was and got his real phone number and Horse called him while on Vent (and Skype I think) and recorded the conversation of them. This was around 2005 or 2006 I think.

This shit is still awesome to see. Necromancer nigga stole my bike, Imperial getting his first laptop, and taking a shit while playing css, and the retarded amount of hours I've spent occupying any of every vent channel. To this day, I'll never take another clan tag, in any game. Rock on. Ps, anyone else remember when red Oct made those sick spray with our names without borders? Yup those were the good days.
