In our search for new gaming frontiers Johnny and I have regressed into Minecraft. The realms server a number of us worked on has been restored and is ready for you to continue building your dreams! The following players are already invited to the realm.
If you have not noticed, M&B Warband is free to play this weekend on steam. I highly, highly recommend purchasing the game on sale, or at least giving it a shot while it is free. M&B is a sandbox game set in the medieval era. This is not a fantasy game. You will start out as an unknown sword travelling the lands seeking favor with the existing lords. Speaking with kings, lords, and vassals will open missions that range from delivering letters, executing a deserter, or even joining a faction and the wars they are participating in. There are six factions, each with their own unique lordly titles and unit specializations. You may choose to pick a faction and work towards becoming a vassal. You may even decide you've had enough of everyone else's politics and declare yourself king of your own realm and work towards conquering the world under your own banner. All of this aside, the one thing that makes M&B Warband stand out for me is the combat. Combat is fluid and responsive. Moving the mouse up, down, left, or right will start your backswing in that direction. Blocking is performed in the same manner. However, you are not entering combat alone. Initially, you can field a force of up to 50 additional men, with the ability to increase that capacity as you level your character. Your soldiers have upgrade trees that are determined by you.
I've followed the series for a few years now, but never took the plunge and purchased anything. There is so much I did not cover, but I'm not posting to review the game. The purpose of this post is to simply spark your awareness of the free weekend, and hopefully draw some new people into the game! Videos and "Let's plays" do not do the game justice. The F2P weekend is an excellent opportunity for you guys and gals to see for yourselves how fantastic the game really is. Additionally, if a bunch of people get into it, we can all hop in some multiplayer siege servers as well! Johnny and I have played together on a few siege maps and I believe we can both attest to how satisfying it is to score headshots with the bow/crossbow (it is not as easy as it sounds).
Have a bunch of skins you don't use? Have a gambling addiction you're looking to feed? You should check out http://csgolounge.com/ where you can bet all those worthless skins away! Bet on the CSGO team you would like to win and receive value based on the % chance to win. For example, 4 hours from now InShock plays Wyborowa with 76% and 24% chance to win, respectively. If you bet and win on InShock you receive $0.32 for every $1 of items where with Wiboraowa you receive $3.04 for every $1. I've used the service and it works well. Instruction videos are on the right showing you how to set everything up and there is a subreddit for trading and match discussion.
The best part about the service is the game is streamed through twitch directly to the website. If you click on individual matches you can see what other people have bet as well as the twitch stream. If you haven't done much trading you will need to verify your account which locks you out for 7 days. But after that you're golden! Good betting my friends!
Star Citizen looks like a fantastic space sim coming out next year. I knew about the kickstarter, didn't contribute, and just saw this video a week or so ago. The level of detail Chris Roberts is doing with this game is nearly unfathomable. The video below shows the first module (the game is releasing modularly) which lets you walk around your personal hangar and climb in and out of your space ships. I was astounded at the multi crew environments and the immersion factor you feel climbing in and out of those seats. With a dogfight module releasing at the end of this month, I feel like it might be a good idea to have a single forum post for everyone to purchase awesome videos. (and sorry for the redundant english, it's finals week and here I am gearing up on a hype train)
I think you can get what is essentially a hide and seek mod for several platforms (gmod, tf2, arma 2) that looks pretty fun. Would be interesting to have a night where we had few ofpr play. I've never played myself, but it looks interesting.
